elmat, I got into an interesting conversation this evening about cell phone connectivity. The question is an old one, but I still don't have a good answer. So I'll approach an expert like you. How good are GSM or CDMA based cell phone communications from airliners flying at above 30,000'? If the planes are over continents, with adequate antennae below, can good communication links be established with planes flying at normal altitude and normal speed? -R.
