Its impossible not to reduce some freedoms in a country as big and as complex as ours.

Its impossible for any country at any time to be completely free, but an effort should always be made to minimize the limitations on personal freedom.

Then why are you not upset with Sanatorum's desire to limit sex between gays?

In many ways are larger more complex society supports a greater amount of personal freedom. The private sector can accomplish things that only the government could do in a more primitive, simple, smaller country and the total wealth produced is so much greater that if an effort is made to control the size of government it can provide its essential services without unduly burdening the country.

There are gov'tmental things that no corp. would want to do and I would not entrust my well being with a corp and expect to come out whole. Their track records are less than stellar when it comes to human rights.

Apparently, you need to get more familiar with the workings of gov't. There is not enough room to list all things that the gov't has accomplished by intervening on behalf of the middle class and/or poor in this country.

Apparently you need to be more familiar with the government and what it does. There isn't enough room to list the ways government screws people or wastes money or places burdens on the economy.

I am far more familiar with the workings of gov't and its foibles and good points than you are. And in spite of its foibles, it does many good things.

,I>It does many things good bad and indifferent. It isn't some unmitigated champion you would like to paint it as. There have been a lot of positive government interventions but in general the less the government intervenes the better.

I am sorry if you have concluded that I see it as a champion. In my book, its a very necessary evil.
