If the Federal gov. does this, that would have to be in trillions, billions not working<g>. And then the problem is that whether there are so many fools would buy those bonds? As for stocks outperform government bonds in the long run, I think depends on how long you are looking at. For the next 20 years, I am not sure. The baby boomers would have to sell their stocks to feed themselves after they retire. And the social security does not need money now, they need money 15 years from now.
