Jay, having lived through the NZ major crash of 1987 [which no other country experienced] I'm aware of how long it takes to clear away the debris. The Y2K bust has been very large in the Nasdaq but not so large in the Dow and around the world. But unlike with New Zealand in 1987, there's insufficient externality to the major crunches in the USA and Europe [and Japan]. China is good, but not enough, even with rats and mice helping.

4 years of downturn might seem a lot, but it's in keeping with the scale of disruption and poverty effect.

Being cautious,
Mqurice
