This estimate includes a one-time charge of about $3 million for restructuring costs as well as a charge related to the restructuring of an operating lease for the company's facility in Richardson, Texas. The amount of this charge won't be known until an appraisal is completed later this quarter. Analysts surveyed by Thomson First Call (News - Websites) were expecting a second-quarter loss of 10 cents a share. In April, TriQuint forecasted a second-quarter loss of 9 cents to 12 cents a share, compared with earnings of 2 cents a share a year earlier. TriQuint reaffirmed its second-quarter revenue guidance of flat to up slightly from the $71.7 million in the first quarter. The consensus revenue estimate is $ 73.2 million. In the year-ago second quarter, TriQuint posted revenue of $61.2 million. Based on the order patterns in the current quarter and the resulting projections for the remainder of the year, TriQuint said it will be difficult to achieve the $320 million in revenue projected as the low end of the range of previous guidance for 2003. TriQuint, which now sees revenue for 2003 between $ 290 million and $310 million, previously expected revenue of $320 million to $ 340 million. TriQuint put its full-year loss at 26 cents to 36 cents a share, compared with its April estimate of a loss of 20 cents to 26 cents a share. First Call expects the company to lose 30 cents a share on 2003 revenue of $ 315.8 million. In 2002, TriQuint lost $1.20 a share on revenue of $267.3 million. "Although we are meeting our second-quarter financial objectives, a slow down in demand from Asia and the continuing softness in telecom infrastructure markets will affect our results in the second half of 2003," the company said.
