They have funny names because two thourohbreds can't have the same name.

You should have seen Saratoga; Funny Cide Beer, Funny Cide Ale, Funny Cide Wine.......

Those people were nuts about a Saratoga horse in the Triple Crown and were ready to explode over the Travers.
