Hi frankw1900; Re: "I'll try and be polite about this."

Don't worry over much about being polite. Bush killed well over 10,000 people over WMDs that Saddam had long before ordered destroyed. Now Bush will have to pay the price.

The sad thing is that we, as a country, will also have to pay the price.

The whole world was screaming at us that our evidence was weak, and that we should let the inspectors continue. Hell, that was the majority opinion in the US. But Bush had to push the button, and now 10,000 people are dead and their relatives are shooting up our soldiers as we're locked into a losing guerilla war, and the world will never again trust the US for being fair, or even reasonable.

Re: " It ain't going to happen because Israel is a democracy and most Arab states are tyranical failures. These Arab states will do just about anything not to face up to their failure. You are suggesting the US aid them in this."

This statement is probably the best illustration for how Bush got himself f'ed up. Remember last year when we were arguing over whether or not Iraq had WMDs? None of us had any direct evidence. It all pretty much came down to one thing. Who do you trust. Do you believe Saddam Hussein, proven liar and tyrant? Or do you believe George Bush, democratically elected president?

Well golly gee. Looks like (in just this one case) Saddam was telling the truth and Bush was lying like a dog.

The lesson? In retrospect, there wasn't anything that Saddam could have done to avoid getting attacked. Like the Iraqi people are saying, Bush used WMDs as an excuse for a war.

The next time a US president claims to have "top secret" information about some obscure corner of the world, the rest of the planet is going to laugh. Hell, the American public isn't going to believe him.

And that Bush could pull it off was due to the illogic of statements like yours.

Let's take another look at what you're saying:

"It ain't going to happen because Israel is a democracy and most Arab states are tyranical failures."

And I suppose Iraq was the most tyrannical failure. Which is why that now that the US is running the show, things have improved so much there! Just like when we cleaned things up in Lebanon!

Hey, want to see a tyrannical failure? Go look at how the Israelis treat their Arab minorities. Fair? How about this: It's illegal for Jews to marry non Jews in Israel. They have to leave the country to get married, and then return, where their license may or may not be recognized:

...
Those couples prohibited from marriage, according to Halacha, include a cohen,[ a member of the priestly caste,] who may not marry a divorced woman or a convert, a woman who was divorced because of an adulterous union who may not remarry her husband or marry her lover, and anyone considered a mamzer, the child or descendant of a forbidden relationship, who may not marry anyone other than another mamzer or a convert.
...

Some "liberal democracy" you've chosen for us to be allies with. In Iraq, everyone is (was) free to marry whoever they want, but in Israel you have to follow Jewish religious traditions.

Let's take one more look at what you are saying:

"These Arab states will do just about anything not to face up to their failure."

Now George Bush is doing just about anything not to face up to the failure to find WMDs. The souls of those 10 or 20 thousand dead Iraqis are waiting for him in Hell. (Where Moslems go after they die, according to a lot of Christians.) Some of them probably trusted the word of a US president, that the US would not attack Iraq if it disarmed. Well, they disarmed. Hell, they were destroying missiles of dubious illegality just a day before the war. But Bush attacked anyway. Kind of reminds of Hitler -- Bush was impossible to placate. Nothing was good enough for him.

I grieve that my country could come up with a scoundrel this bad. And I doubly grieve that my country is filled to overflowing with sanctimonious, holier than thou, religious pinheads who think that Israeli feces don't stink.

Am I in favor of the Arabs? Hell no! Both sides in the Arab / Israeli conflict want victory more than peace. That's the case of the Arabs just as much as the Israelis.

What I don't want is to get the US involved in a multi-thousand year-old pissing match that involves terror bombing and targetting killings, when there is not a damn bit of good that getting involved can do for us.

Re: "What you are suggesting is that US policy enable these countries ..."

The fallacy you're pursuing here is to imagine that it is (1) the US's duty to correct the evilness in other parts of the world, (2) possible for the US to correct it, (3) and subject to the constraint that you are the holier than thou, sanctimonious, do-gooder, prig who's going to decide who is the doer of evil. Oh, and you will always decide that it's the Arabs who are evil, no matter what the facts are. Just like you decided that Saddam Hussein hadn't really destroyed his WMDs. And then you're going to stand back, the Holy Cross of Jesus hanging around your neck (it should be burning you), and you're going to wonder why it is that the Arabs don't think that they can get a fair shake from the United States. BWAHAHAHAHAHA!!! LOL!!! BWAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

Re: "It's not US activity which has generated Arab terrorism but, rather, those of the failed Arab states."

This is a half truth. You're right, in that Arab terrorism was created by Israel, not the US. But that the terrorism is directed at us, that was our creation. Switzerland doesn't have any smoking holes in the ground. But you are too dense to figure this out. Instead of looking at the obvious things that we do that contribute to our being a target, you're going to blame the fact that someone is madder than hell at us on your Holy Sanctimony. That's right! The US is the target of the Arabs because we are so modern!

Uh, the Japanese are an f of a lot more modern than we are, but are not subject to any terrorist attacks from the Arabs. So are the Icelanders, for that matter, but they have no problems. In fact, we're so primitive that better than half of our population doesn't believe in evolution.

And by the way, if the whole thing was about Saddam Hussein, then how come Saddam isn't down there with the innocent Iraqis? Bush managed to slaughter the innocent, but he left the guilty unpunished. Some president.
