I am ROFL. I'm going to forward that to all the members of my English department.

Sadly, I caught 7 of my sophomores plagiarizing their short stories in the fall of last year. I TOLD them I was a whiz on the net, and that I would check every one of their papers (which I did) but they just didn't believe me. :-) they believe me now.

The only cure for plagiarism is the threat of detection. We need more teachers and editors who have the time and know how to use the net- because all the cases I found were net plagiarism. I thought one of my students had used a book, and I even ordered the book to check, but it turned out he was just a really, really good writer. Plagiarizing other sources is just too much work- so if the fact checker can use the net, I bet they catch 95-99% of all plagiarism cases.
