Whether Palestine was a malarial swamp or a metropolis is a moot point. The Europeans who came with G-d on their lips and guns in their hands were terrorists bent on taking the land from the native people there at the time. That included Orthodox Jews who opposed their efforts and tactics. By the way, it was the Protestant branches of Christianity that did much of the early work in "cleaning up" Palestine of its backwardness. All events after the Zionist invasion was a result of the Zionist invasion that included the immigration of many Arabs to the land. len
