michael,

I buy foreign government bonds from Smith Barney. I started buying the funds TGG (now GIM), FCX and FCO back in 2000. I have recently started buying the debt directly. The reason I am buying these bonds is to get my capital out of the US dollar using low risk instruments.

Where do you see a draught in the grain growing area of the US? We do not have a draught in the Red River Valley of the North (North Dakota). In fact it is just the opposite, as it has been a struggle to get the crop in because of rain. I agree food commodities should generally go up in price with the falling dollar. Heck, you always get bailed out of these plays during the summer if your bet is not working as there is always some negative weather related news and gets the commodity traders buying the futures. <g>
