I'll take Post of the Weekend, thank you very much... <<The left's latest (of MANY) strategic errors is trying to force a debate over WMD's. The public is just fine with Bush's great victory, but a WMD debate would further destroy what's left of the anti-American domestic enemy, by educating the public better on two important points: The nature of modern warfare, and-as a subsidiary-the nature of bio and chem weapons: 1) On the main point, WE DIDN'T SEE THE REAL WAR ON TV. In WWII, offensives were led with armored divisions exploiting weak points in the front created by bombing and artillery. That's not possible today (as only Donald Rumsfeld seems to understand). Today you only move heavy metal up the road after the deep penetration, recon, and engineer units, in conjunction with air power, have cleared the way. You can't televise those "broken-end-of-the-bottle" actions any more today than you could televise the Battle of the Somme in 1916. The heavy metal columns (proven obsolete in the Iraq war) are the equivilent of cleanup and occupation operations in past wars: some initial fighting, followed by pacification, concentration of POWS, etc. The war was decided, as all wars are, BEFORE the cameras arrived. (The reality is you wouldn't want it any other way, because such "reality television" for war is contrary to human nature.) 2) All of which paves the way for our essential understanding of Saddam's WMD threat, WHICH HAS ALEADY BEEN PROVEN, and was a perfectly legitimate factor (among many) in the decision to re-colonize Iraq. The left is banking on a public remaining ignorant about this ultra-modern phenomenon, and thus expecting the US to somehow dig up thousands of buried 40-ton missiles tipped with heavy payloads of "bio-bombs", artillery with huge shells packed with "chem-warheads", and other such ancient detritus that would take convoy after convoy of trucks to transport. The whole concept is ABSURD. Chem and bio weapons don't even have to exist in quantity until a few HOURS before their intended use. Stockpiles, in most cases, deteriorate to uselessness over short periods of time. Any stockpiles that would justify war would fit in your garage, with room left for your car. Any any stockpiles that actually HAD been manufactured up to the beginning of the war could be distributed to Saddam's Al Queda minions in a matter of HOURS. THE REAL PROOF is the discovery of bio-weapon and chemical labs, trained scientists and engineers, and protective gear for friendly troops. ALL OF THESE HAVE BEEN FOUND IN MORE THAN SUFFICIENT QUANTITY ALREADY. If the anti-American noise gets too loud, the people will be presented with this REALITY (though hopefully, their mentally-challenged CONGRESS members will be educated-for once in their lives-first). Finally, the Marxist/Leninists will seize on statements, here and there, that the imprisoned "Dr. Subhuman" or "Mr. Germbomb" SWEARS that he/she "knows of no WMD's". It's most likely TRUE in some cases, because this type of weaponry is not developed (copied, actually) through any sort of 40's-style Manhatten Project, but by compartmentally controlled small groups of technicians and their commanders-who can all be killed quickly to assure their "security"-or escaped to other terrorist countries, where they can continue their war against civilization. Thus the WMD controversy is MANUFACTURED by the contemporary Lenininsts, and it will blow up in their faces. BUT the war against world Islam and their tens of millions of MURDERERS will continue, with chem and bio weapons threats continuing. The only damage the anti-American left can do (and I'm SURE they'd LOVE this) is to deceive the public until the chem and bio threat is shown, once again, AFTER a major mass murder somewhere in the civilized world...>>
