I don't watch TV, but I read a thing he wrote immediately after the war, saying very clearly that he thought the threat had been enormously overstated and that the war was pushed far faster than it needed to have been, with considerable adverse consequences. Unless somebody shows me something in writing, with his name on it, that says otherwise, I'll continue to think that's what he thinks.

Agreed.

I think he is/was uncharacteristically caught up in the heat of the moment since he provided a clear-eyed rationale for the invasion much of which was based on Saddam's WMDs.

We should recognize that the weapons will not necessarily be found immediately, that the noise on their absence is presently not justified, and that it is best to suspend judgment for at least a month or two, and perhaps longer.

In this sense the ease of the campaign works against Bush since his critics will demand a more or less equally speedy resolution of the WMD issue.
