New Alliance Will Make Ultrasound Equipment Upgrade Available to New Implant Sciences' Customers

WAKEFIELD, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 9, 2003-- Implant Sciences Corporation (AMEX: "IMX", "IMX.WS") has entered into a strategic alliance with B-K Medical Systems, Inc., to offer Implant Sciences' new I-Plant(TM) brachytherapy seed customers an upgrade on their B-K Medical prostate ultrasound systems.
The alliance with B-K Medical will enable Implant Sciences to offer both the very latest in ultrasound equipment and prostate seeds to new customers. Implant Sciences and B-K Medical Systems will work together to augment Implant Sciences' sales and marketing efforts to prostate brachytherapy clinicians.

Anthony J. Armini, Ph.D., President and CEO of Implant Sciences said, "The strategic alliance with B-K Medical Systems will provide us with a significant new customer base for our prostate seeds. We believe that B-K Medical Systems presently has over 90% of the prostate seed ultrasound market in the US and a majority of their customers have older model B-K ultrasound systems. We are delighted to be working with the recognized leader in the prostate ultrasound equipment market."

William T. Gregory, President of B-K Medical Systems, Inc. said, "This alliance will allow our customers to update their existing equipment and use the new I-Plant(TM) seed with our new high-definition Falcon or Hawk EXL systems. We are also delighted to be working with such a high-technology company."

Implant Sciences developed its patented I-Plant(TM) brachytherapy seeds using its proprietary ion implantation and thin film coatings technologies. The I-Plant(TM) brachytherapy seeds are manufactured using the company's proprietary equipment. In addition, the seeds are manufactured without expensive cyclotrons or linear accelerators and without using hazardous "wet" chemistry.

B-K Medical System's Falcon 2101 EXL is the latest in a new generation of high-definition, very high frequency ultrasound systems. With its proven Continuous Uniform Focus feature, the Falcon provides excellent image quality and secures optimal, uniform resolution throughout the entire image.
