Co stated that it expects Q2 EPS within guidance of Eur 0.13-0.16. In mobile phones, Q2 sales growth is expected to be positive but at the low end or below the guided range of 4%-12% year on year, with sales growth slightly less for the Nokia Group. Merrill Lynch views the comments as neutral to slightly negative, as networks outperformed but handsets came in lower than expectations. Firm also comments that a decline in ASPs is back. CSFB reiterates its Outperform rating as overall light sales and EPS guidance were in-line with expectations. While expects full yr sales growth to prove challenging, firm sees limited downside risk to its EPS est.

BRCM MOT extends cable set-top box relationship with BRCM () The Co announced its extension of a supply agreement with Motorola to be a primary chip supplier of its cable set-top box technology through 2004. MOT's digital set-top box portfolio include services such as video-on-demand, interactive television and HDTV.

BofA downgrades semi equipment stocks Banc of America downgrades AMAT, KLAC, NVLS, and LRCX to Neutral from Buy, and downgrades CMOS to Sell from Neutral; firm is not optimistic that the earnings power of the semi-equipment group going into 2004 can sustain the current rally, as slower growth, heightened competition, and lack of new applications suggest that industry profitability will fall short of the 1990's cycles.

IBM IBM and IFX announce joint development of new MRAM technology (82.00) IBM and Infineon have announced the joint production of a 128kb Magnetic Random Access Memory or MRAM chip, which is claimed to be the smallest MRAM chip to date. The MRAM technology is expected to one day replace many of the current memory types in use such as DRAM, SRAM and flash memory
