I think the reason for the jump in SUNW shares is speculation that a bigger hardware company (IBM or HPQ are pretty much the two) might acquire them and migrate their customers to the bigger company's product roadmap, same thing that is happening with ORCL/PSFT. Doubt it will actually happen, but that's my speculation on the reason for the recent rise.

the strategy de jour. didn't they try this in 1999? this is like a train wreck. i can't take my eyes off it...
