Bushies either need a big scapegoat or they need to cover this up somehow. But how do you cover up such a big story? By creating a bigger story? I dunno. If I were Karl Rove now (and no, I'm nowhere near as ruthless a thinker) I'd probably be thinking - "we need a big terrorist attack" or a big sex scandal. Scary times. I've always said Bushies will not let go of power without kicking, screaming, cheating and subverting democracy. That may be beginning to happen now.
