of course not...shorting is part of life in the market....its a needed part.....

i made it clear the shorts i'm talking about here.....theres different kinds of shorts.....

there are traders who long and short in a business like fashion because its part of the job....just cold hearted technicals.....something you have to do if you want to do this for a living...markets go up and down.....

then...if you ever read a yahoo message board....there are the type of shorts who bash down any stock in any manner they can...they could be "paid" bashers for a mm....or just want to drive the price down so they can get it cheap.....these people have no character...integrity....conscience....they are lowlife scam artists....

then...you have the type who want nothing more than to see the demise of this country and free market.....they enjoy profiting knowing its hurting millions of people....they are happy to see this...because they make their money on others misfortune....and enjoy every second of it and do nothing but bad mouth the government....the country....everything sucks to them...everything sucks unless they can profit off it....and when they don't profit....they blame everybody but themselves for their own ignorance and lack of skill in trading.....they live in the greatest and kindest and most generous country in the history of mankind and they hate it...they want to bring it down....and if they could they would.....why would they think like that....probably cause they are losers...can't make it in this world because of their own faults so they have to blame somebody or something for their failures...

then theres the selective type short....who knows there are paid stock manipulators and company insiders out there pumping real garbage for their own profit....they know sooner or later the stock is going to freefall......and likely turn to dust after the manipulators are done.....so they search those out to short....

theres a new breed of short now...after a 3 year bear....they think the markets going down forever now....they got sick of losing on the long side....so they figure shorting must be the way to do it......they don't know they are late to the party and that party is just about over.....they don't know the "math" of shorting and don't realize you can get killed fast being short in a up trending market....the loses can be unlimited....and they don't realize the gains are "capped".....you can only make 100%...and thats very rare.....you would be lucky to average 20-30%.....and if you are a short now in this type market....you won't even see that....and while you are looking short...and trying not to get killed or fighting for a few % crumbs down....you are missing big gains on the long side....

and if you get caught short in a bull rally....it can wipe out gains in a heartbeat....and if you get into heavy losses.....you won't make it back by shorting more in this type market....you could make it back by going long though and catching the next bull wave up.....and i'm talking crappers here...not the likes of CSCO or other big caps that might only have 10-15% up left......

when i said i didn't like to short....theres your reason right there...the big money is made on the long side for obvious reasons...and lets be real here....shorting has only had the edge 3 years of the last 20 years....unless you are a selective short and can find the real dogs in a sea of thousands of stocks and ride them to 0....well....without another bubble implosion like the last 3 years....you just won't survive for long in a sideways market shorting and missing the big percentage gains offered on the long side.....

so for me....not liking to short unless i have to....and preferring the long side because of the big % gains....is purely a business decision i made in order to survive and make a living in this market....nothing more...nothing less....

and the types of shorts i direct my post at are obvious....the anti-american ones.....or the yahoo trash types....

the others....i have nothing against....
