No easy answer to that question.

In mid-1999, I got out of tech stocks and missed a glorious run. On the other hand, in 2000, I got to keep what I'd made before that.

The big difference today is (as someone else pointed out) this potential crisis is based on something real. Even if a full blown shortage doesn't develop, the fundamentals pretty well guarantee me enough dividends to see things unfold in relative peace of mind.

Bottom line? I'm holding until silver starts to run (2152?)

Tommaso,

>Would be happy to listen to any warnings that might help combat self-destructive euphoria.<

I have been dwelling on this problem, too.
My best guess is that canroys are running for two reasons:
1. real rate of return is awesome compared to fixed-income alternatives. It seems PE's are growing and ROR is being pushed down. Even so, comparable alternatives remain less attractive.
2. NG-weighted trusts, and even the oily ones, are supported by real CF and real earnings.
Anyone remember $6+ gas in June? Canroy's are not running in isolation. I have been waiting to add on dips.....and waiting....and they still keep running. Sold SJT after a big move about two weeks ago and it still roars on.

Perhaps the new LT equilibrium in a yield-starved environment is at a higher level? Wish I knew. Will the cool temps of May and early June continue? Will injections stay above 100 in the coming weeks?

Regards,
whitepine
