MSI, Re: Japan scheme to destroy old currency -- Maybe not totally insane, but certainly outrageously confiscatory. Keep in mind that the U.S. Treasury is now in the final stages of creating a new "look and feel" for our currency. This is most likely anticipatory of a similar move to demand the surrender of old style currency in an effort to flush drug and other contraband money out of hidden caches and into the regular banking system.
