"Public Unworried' So Presidential lying is ok if it helps or at least does not hurt Bush's re-election prospects?

No, "56 percent [or 69% accoridng to Fox] of Americans believe the conflict was justified even without evidence of Iraqi weapons of mass destruction." In other words, most Americans realize what you don't - that it wasn't just about WMDs to begin with and that not being able to find them doesn't make the whole thing wrong OR a lie. It has nothing to do with re-election politics and everything to do with what the American people think is in their foreign policy interest and who they trust to best look out for those interests. Even some of the Democratic candidates seem to get that, which is why Gephart, Biden and others refuse to jump on the foreign policy Bush-basher bandwagon.

When we have liars in the White House -- liars willing to send Americans to their deaths in pursuit of their own political agendas, and to kill thousands of foreign civilians in the process, then you have an issue that transcends opinion polls.

Too bad for you, but public opinion does count and the majority says you're full of s#!t.
