But your response illustrates the basic reason why there continues to be conflict in Israel. Both sides are convinced that they're going to win. You think that Bush isn't going to force Israel into making real concessions. In other words, the situation will continue ad infinitum. Israel gets to keep Arab land, including the stuff they took (in admitted violation of even their own law, much less international law) in the occupied territories. And they get to continue with their religious state where whether you are allowed to enter, immigrate to, or even return after a vacation outside of Israel, depends heavily on your religion. That way they get to keep their religious laws that don't even allow Jews to marry non Jews. Meanwhile, the Arabs look at their 100 million sized population, and conclude that someday they will catch up with the Israelis in wealth (and therefore in military ability). So they look forward to a day when they can force Israel to concede land that was "stolen" from them years ago. And they continue to raise their children with that goal in mind. Both sides are convinced that they're going to win. In fact, God, the Supreme Fascist, told both sides that they can expect victory. Why settle for peace when you can have victory? Hell, why settle for peace when victory has been promised you by God Himself? Yeah, they're going to keep on fighting. And funny that you're Jewish. I've never met a Jew who was supportive of Israel before! And all the Arabs I've met told me that the Palestinians are in the wrong! BWAHAHAHHAHAHA!!! LOL!!! BWHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! -- Carl P.S. But your assumption that the US is Israel's friend for ever is wrong. Every year, more Arabs immigrate to the US, and the ones already here become more wealthy and influential. And since the total Arab population of the world is about 6x that of the total Jewish population, it's clear that eventually Arab influence over US foreign policy will first neutralize Israel's advantage, and then slowly polarize it in favor of the Arabs. You're doomed. Even if Sharon hadn't slimed Bush with bad advice on Iraq. You guys might as well negotiate with the Arabs and see what kind of a deal you can get. But do recognize that eventually Israel will no longer be a religious state.
