I believe that the Bible is the infallible word of God. Its infallible only if God wrote it. He did not. Any theological discussion with me will easily turn into an argument when you call the Bible "flawed." Of course, it was flawed. It was written by man. Have you not seen the experiment where someone is told something and by the 4th or 5th person the original statement is terribly distorted. Primitive man wrote the bible; to expect he fully understood the concepts promulgated by Christ is ridiculous. There are people today who do not understand his concepts and those concepts are hardly rocket science.Again, the important issue to Jesus and God is how we live our lives and not necessarily what we believed. Belief is closely interrelated with how we live our lives. As for Jesus, the Bible makes it clear: "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." That is an excellent example of the bible being flawed. A man living in the jungles of Bornea may never have heard of Jesus; he may not even have a telephone or tv. To say that he will not find God because he did not know of Jesus is arrogant, pretentious, and exclusionary. Jesus was anything if not inclusionary. Only man loves the concept of being exclusionary. I think Jesus meant that you will find God by living a life that satisfies the parameters established in his teachings. Besides, the concepts promoted by Christ were not exclusive to him; other religions espouse many of the same concepts and ideals. If you want more on the exclusivity of Jesus, this is a great book to read, written by one of my favorite apologists:amazon.com ; I not interested........the Jesus I was taught was not exclusive. Only fundamentalist Christians believe that nonsense.Anyone, I know you wanted a discussion on near-death experiences, but I can't get past the statements on the NDE site that I consider inflammatory. Suffice to say that I believe NDE's do happen, but I don't consider them to be necessarily good things. That's okay. The last thing I wanted was another argument. ted EDIT. BTW its my readings about NDEs and my own supernatural experiences that have helped to reaffirm my faith in God.
