I think that there is a slight difference between sharing intelligence data with your allies and selling it to your enemies

Perhaps Jonathan Pollard is the more appropriate spy example. Apparently the CIA did more than just pass the Niger information to Great Britain, they also supressed the truth when Condi Rice, and Cheney, and Rumsfeld verified the information for the State of the Union speech. That is overt treason.
