re: "the Amer. public is acting like sheep unlike their Brit. counterparts."

Well, I don't want to knock the British too much, but...

Yes, I understand........we don't have too many allies left.

After Churchill led the British through WWII, the British rewarded him, by voting him out of office - and began a 40 year experiment with Socialism.

Churchill had an abrasive personality; maybe it wasn't suited for peacetime.

The early in the Post War period (1950), the British had, the second highest per capita GDP in Europe (behind the neutrals, Switzerland and in front of Sweden). By 1979, per Capita GDP in the UK slipped to 10th in Europe.

I am unclear what per capita GDP has to do with not behaving like sheep. In the 1990's, we had the highest per capita GDP. I don't believe that made us less sheep like.

My point is that the Brits are not letting their leaders tell them a fabrication and then looking the other way. They are looking for accountability. And we should be doing the same. If our leaders don't think we care, then they will do whatever is in their best interests, not ours.
