Too true. But then I guess someone is always afraid to speak out too strongly, no matter what times you live in. PC people made it hard for bigots to speak freely, for example, so maybe there is always repression- but sometimes it's the kind of repression one favors. For every time period I can think of groups that probably felt repressed, and governmental repression tends to be a pendulum (imo).
