please do not speak dismissively of killing children who might grow up to be terrorists. In Germany, from 1933-1945, they had a theory about Jews that went like this: "nits breed lice."

I share your implicit concern about applying insect metaphors to human beings since, as you highlight, my country provided horrible examples not so long ago.

"nits make lice" is a famous phrase, CB. I always associate it with Oliver Cromwell's ordering of the killing of Irish kids. I am sure it has been used by many.
