The parent company, starved for cash and operating under bankruptcy-court protection from creditors, announced Friday a seat sale at Tango with 50 per cent discounts off Tango's everyday low fares, including "select one-way fares as low as $12, including an online booking discount of $5 each way." The seat sale fares are available immediately until June 19 at www.flytango.com, Air Canada (TSX:AC) said in a release. Travel may start as early as June 17 and must be completed by July 16. The airline didn't say which flight costs $12, but it did list the following one-way fares after the online discount: Halifax-Toronto $35, Calgary-Montreal $112, Vancouver-St. John's, Nfld. $195, Edmonton-Toronto $96, Winnipeg-Ottawa $86, Montreal-Toronto $42. The announcement comes one day after discount airline Jetsgo celebrated its first anniversary by offering $1 one-way flights from Toronto to several Canadian cities and announcing its fleet will grow by 50 per cent to 12 planes. Under the $1 offer, the return flight is at Jetsgo's normal discount summer fare. Tango and Jetsgo also offer a $19 one-way flight from Toronto to Ottawa. There are additional charges for all airline travel.
