It is difficult to send a MMS message over GSM without GPRS.

GPRS is GSM (packet mode)

Jim,

<< No mention of GPRS in the Nokia GSM/WCDMA 6650. Will it not operate in the GPRS mode? >>

Yes, of course. That's a given. It features WAP 1.2.1 over GPRS data in both GSM and WCDMA modes. No word yet as to whether XHTML will be available over the WAP 1.2.1 stack, but I suspect that if it is not in the initially shipping versions that it will be forthwith.

You might recall that at the Sonera product launch last September that Sonera commercially launched multimedia '3G Services' but not their 3GSM WCDMA network.

At this stage, however, I rather doubt that Nokia would make claims for WCDMA to GPRS to WCDMA data handover, and multi-tasking (voice, MMS, WAP data) is only available in WCDMA mode.

Specs were somewhat scant when the initial product launch took place last September, but I suspect we'll see an updated spec sheet very shortly, and I'm hunting for a users guide.
