I was thinking more about a figurehead monarch. Sunni Arab Iraqis need to be involved in new iraqi order. I was just theorizing over at Hawks thread. I agree, it will probably never happen. Mike

Hawk and I have discussed a "Hashemite Restoration route" several months ago. There are merits to the idea, but of course it would be up to Iraqis to choose monarchy.

The idea is constitutional monarchy, not absolute. More along the lines of Britain's monarchy, with the King having a very limited or symbolic role in a parliamentary system. The Hashemites are direct descendents of Muhammed, and thus are heirs of the Caliphate.
