First, the guy discredited himself out of office and he resigned..

He resigned, and there was certainly some Republican support for his resignation. But it was largely the result of Democrat obstructionism.

second, bush lives by none of his precepts. He has spent with abandon.

Bush made a huge mistake by signing that horrible big-spending Farm Bill and the Education Bill. Both were big-spending liberal legislation, and I have criticized Bush for his actions in allowing them to become law. But let's not lose sight of the fact that they were the Democrats who enacted the law to begin with. Bush clearly thought he was getting political capital by signing these bills, and it was a mistake.

Thirdly, the reps have total control of the country...anything that goes wrong is their fault.

I wish it were that simple. A 500B deficit isn't a big deal when compared with the economy, and certainly had to be done given the economic downturn that Bush inherited.

Bush has done all that can be done by urging tax cuts and getting what he could.

Frankly, I think Bush has an excellent record to run on and will stomp any of the current crop of liberal liars running for the presidency.

Thanks mostly to increases in non DoD spending, and lower revenue caused by the economic slowdown each of which has increased the deficit more then the combined total of DoD spending increases and lower revenue specifically caused already phased in tax cuts.
