You should be afraid of your government. History is replete with examples of governments abusing the trust of their citizens (including examples from our own US of A). If you are not a little afraid of posting opinions contrary to the interest of your government, then you don't understand just how little power you have, if the state decides to crush you like a bug.

Carnivore worries me. And that's just one thing. There are many others.

You or I might not be afraid, but many are, for various reasons from the government to their employers finding out what they post, a "nut" coming after them, etc, etc.
In fact, in my 13 years of posting, I have been attacked more viciously than anyone I have ever seen on any board, and have the disks to prove it. Yet I post on... Others would have stopped long ago.
