christ it was a Panda AntiVirus signature file that NAV didn't like.

now i recall TrojanHunter flagging a suspicious packed file once too, and it was because Panda had placed it in the windows system folder (like it did this one), which is not considered good practice. that file was imscan.dll.

i must have had that pav.sig file on my hd for months. i wonder what made NAV whack it today? maybe it was trying to execute?

i *am* glad to be cleaning out the remains of the PAV files. i recall that when i tried running the Panda online scan, it locked up my computer. coupled with where it stores its files, and how assorted ATs and AVs react to its files, i say good riddance Panda
