Good morning X,

The idea that the Dems spend more than the Repubs is a great myth right up there with the great myth of the "liberal media".

Repubs "borrow and spend" while Dems "tax and spend". At least the Dems want to pay their way as they go. And of course the two have different priorities. Repubs tend to want "stuff" mostly guns and military hardware <g>, they think they need to protect their own personal "stuff" .

Dems want to spend mostly on services, HEW type for basically the betterment of people. A more long term investment in society.. Repubs are more into selfish, short term gratification with a very limited or no look to the future. That's why IMO, they are so much less conservation minded.. A "use it up now", for myself mentality.. Unfortunately, just more selfish, IMO :(..

Like education. That's a long term investment for society, with no immediate gratification for the person that funds it. So Repubs tend to place it lower on the priority list than Dems do..

Also on a individual level, it is my experience that liberals spend more on intangibles, "self improvement" type things, educational courses, books, travel, etc.. rather than just "stuff"..

I know I am generalizing but that's just my personal experience.

Have a wonderful day.. As I finish this, the sun is just being exposed over the horizon.
