Hawkmoon,

You display scant comprehension of the list of vicious dictators that seem to be the usual darlings of U.S. foreign policy.

Remember the destruction of a liberal democrat in Guatemala named Arbenz? Our C.I.A., at the behest of United Fruit has stopped democracy in its tracks in Guatemala for half a century, making the nation safe for corporate exploitation and the destruction of opportunity for the local population.

Remember Mossadeq in Iran? Deposed by Kermit Roosevelt and his other screwball fascists at the C.I.A. imposing the repressive, anti-democratic Shah Pavlavi and laying the groundwork for the fundamentalist revolution of 1979? Or are you happier to keep blinders on about the dictators we normally impose on nations seeking fairness, equality and democracy within their borders.

How about the C.I.A.'s involvement in the assassination of Salvadore Allende in Chile in 1973, and the imposition of a military dictatorship there, ruining the lives of a generation of Chileans?

How about the malicious accomplice role that Henry Kissinger played in the devastation of the nascent nation of East Timor by the aggressive and exploitative Sukarno regime from 1975 on?

How about the utter disregard of Harry Truman and Dean Acheson to the overtures of a patriot and Jeffersonian named Ho Chi Minh in 1947 when Ho attempted to seek a helping hand from America to overthrown the yoke of French colonial exploitation, and the Truman team sided with the colonialist/exploiters?

How about our recent theft of Iraq's oil?

Have you no sense of shame?

Have you no decency?
