Christian Science monitor shows a graph clearly indicating that the present savings rate is a big descent from the World War II high of 25%,(there were no big ticket items to buy) and the 1980-1982 high of 10+ %. The 1990's were around 7-8 %.
You say that 4% has been the norm for the last 15 years. In other words, according to your data, the situation is not getting worse lately. I didn't write the Christian Science Monitor story nor did I draw their graph for them.???
Thanks for your input. For the sake of my friends still invested in the U.S. I hope you are right. But I doubt it.
