Choice operates on many levels. For example, you were able to choose your blacked shrimp and oysters fondaux because of your choice of restaurant, the chef's choice in menu preparation, the wholesaler's choice in provisions, etc. The web of choice and consequence stretches far beyond the immediate.

Societal choices are both the sum of individual choices as well as the backdrop against which individual choice operates. In the sense that we are separate we can talk of individual choice, but in the sense that we are all one it may be more useful to talk of consensual choice.
