The idea that Israelis are threatened by "genocide" from Hamas is, charitably speaking, dubious. Homemade gunpowder vs. state-of-the-art American munitions would make Iraq vs. US seem like a dead-even battle by comparison.

Or, you compare body counts over the last 36 years. Not that that would be "logical" or anything, under conservative definitions of "logic" at least.

If Hamas had the overwhelming military advantage that the Israelis have had....would there be any Jews left in the Middle East?

Genocide (or "ethnic cleansing) might not be within their reach but it seems safe to say that it is a goal.

Less dubious, certainly, than the idea that the US is threatened with destruction by Al Qaida.

The assymetry of power is not enough to keep either organization from making a good college try and wreaking havoc in the process.

Hamas does not hide its goals. Are they children, that you don't take them seriously? Do you think bus bombings are some kind of game, that they wouldn't do to the skyscrapers of Tel Aviv what OBL did to the World Trade Center if they got a chance? Neither men nor funds nor will are lacking.
