How about taking on the power to ban posters yourself - on condition that Lindybill (or I, for that matter) has it also, and both must always agree before banning or jailing anyone? That should keep things 'fair and balanced' -g-

Well, that's taking it a step down the road into actually how to do it. I was curious just how many members of the thread were willing to consider other alternatives.

As for just how to do it, now that you've suggested it, nothing comes easy. Each of us, in our own inimitable ways, as the saying goes, are poison to some subset of posters. I can imagine CB and Derek doing cartwheels at your suggestion. ;-)

I could see a three headed monster of the sort you imagine but with each of the three having moderator powers, thus folk could skip out for a while. I've, for instance, got a busy summer ahead of me and won't be around as much as in the recent past.

Whatever would be done would have to have some rather widespread approval from other posters. And it would have to be obvious that the moderator(s) would not have to try to implement Ken as if Ken were here. But do it their own way. You can, for instance, see that Bill would be a different moderator simply by reading his politics thread.
