al Qaida attacks in the US have always been spread out -- look at the length of time between the first and second attacks on the World Trade Center. As for no new attacks, there have been plenty of attacks outside the US, and from what has been reported, there has been a significant al Qaida regrouping. Afghanistan is not under US control. And it appears that it is a matter of time before more Americans will die.
