<<<Add "I didn't want to pay taxes" to your list of errors>>>
I forgot that one, and the most important one of all. I tried to delay as long as possible and it cost me a fortune, because I would at least have gotten the taxes back instead of losing the stock value by holding.
It will be not easy to do if one has no had recent taxes, but it is like savings bank to pay quarterly taxes, as you will get them back if the market reverses. Which it has an inclination to do
Try to get a positive attitude toward taxes, so it does not stop one from selling when the time is right.
Better to ask the barber or a store clerk when the time is right, never ask a broker
