Looks to me as if you've changed the thread topic form a Carville-Rove forum to an education forum.

You know my love of this subject, and this is the most accessible material on it I have found. So I have been "pigging out."

We started off by saying that perhaps we would be able to find numbers to back up what we believed, and I did not thing we would be able to. So, hurrah! I found a source. But, as I also guessed, we would never agree on the accuracy of the source. Still fun.

But I like the anecdotal material best. "Security Detail" by Epstein really laid out the Bureaucracy problem they have in dealing with "act up" kids. There are no "bad" kids anymore. Epstein was not a good writer, but his frustration sure came through.

On the other hand, Sol Stein is an excellent writer, and "Stuyvesant High School" really was well done, IMO. They spend all this money to give the brightest kids in NYC a top education, and then can't control the admission of top teachers. A real waste. You will probably never admit that the number one problem there is the militant Teachers Union. Yes, the State and local School bureaucracy is bad, but the key to the problem is the control of working conditions by the Union.

In any case, as we cruise through the summer doldrums of this lackluster Political campaign, it gives us another subject to discuss.
