Goldman Economists See $475 Bln Budget Deficit, Dow Jones Says
June 16 (Bloomberg) -- Goldman Sachs Group Inc. economists raised their estimate for the U.S. budget deficit next year to $475 billion from $450 billion, Dow Jones Newswires said.

The economists said their estimate of a $425 billion deficit in the current fiscal year ``still looks reasonable,'' the wire service reported. The economists added that risks to both estimates ``tilt to the high side.''

Last week, the Congressional Budget Office increased its forecast for the fiscal 2003 deficit to more than $400 billion, Dow Jones said.

The economists also boosted their estimate for a cumulative deficit over the next 10 years, from fiscal 2004 through fiscal 2013, to $4.5 trillion from $4.2 trillion, Dow Jones said.
