Bull-Bear Standoff
6/17/03 02:01 PM ET

In the midafternoon, we have battled to a standstill. The bears attempted to ramp us down a bit but the dip-buyers wasted no time taking advantage of lower prices.

We have had a series of strong finishes and I would not be a bit surprised to see the buyers gun us up once again into the close. The number 30.90 looks like key overhead on the Nasdaq 100 Trust (QQQ:Amex). If we breach that level, watch for the buyers to pile in.

The psychology of this market right now is that it is much easier for us to go up than down. Thus we have to be much more attuned to the technical trigger points on the upside. The buyers are feeling very comfortable about jumping in when key technical levels are breached on the upside.
