How is the heat coming on George Galloway ?

Well, innocent or guilty, theoretically he should not stand a chance. Even if innocent and you are on the wrong side of British security forces, I would say your chances of escaping a frame up would be approaching zero. War is war.

June 10th story.

If he somehow recovers from his difficulties he would be a very serious threat in the British political system. The majority of people here were against the Iraq war. Democracy and all that. Galloway freed up would cause havoc imho.

Tony Blair has bounced back from "impossible" situations several times but I think his luck is running thin.

/edit. This news makes Galloway a potentially very dangerous political item..

Foot gives Galloway his support

JASON BEATTIE CHIEF POLITICAL CORRESPONDENT

MICHAEL Foot, the former Labour leader, is advising George Galloway as the maverick MP fights his suspension from the Labour Party and prepares for a possible libel action over claims he took money from Saddam Hussein’s regime.

The public show of support by Mr Foot, 90, a heroic figure among the Labour left, is an embarrassment for the Labour Party, which last week suspended Mr Galloway, the MP for Glasgow Kelvin, pending the outcome of "internal party investigations".

Lawyers on behalf of Mr Galloway are expected shortly to issue a writ against the Daily Telegraph and the Christian Science Monitor over claims made in both papers that the MP took more than £350,000 from the former Iraqi regime siphoned from the oil-for-food programme.

Mr Galloway has denied the allegations.
