It sure didn't help that after calls of distress were made.....no one came to their rescue...ever. Similar to Somalia. The US commander requested tanks three times. Clinton and Aspen just said no. We know the result. BTW, I got to relive that story last Saturday night when SFC Randy Shughart's parents, Lois and Herbert Shughart, were honored guests at the SF banquet. Randy and Gary Gordon were awarded the MOH for that action. Unfortunately they were among the KIA...KIA from lack of support at the top.
