If we fail to see marked improvement in limiting support and assistance for militant fundamentalist groups... Then possibly the answer might just need to be yes...

American tanks in Mecca are going to create more terror than they prevent. And if you think building an acceptable government in Iraq is difficult….

I tend to agree with Rumsfeld that this will be more of an unconventional war, as well as one where law enforcement continues to play a major role.

I’ve been pushing the unconventional war side for many months. I would have to point out, though, and not for the first time, that the safest refuges that the terrorists have are within the territories of friendly nations, and that effective unconventional war and law enforcement efforts will depend heavily on our ability to effectively cooperate. Cooperation does not appear to be the administration’s strongest suit.

But it's also one where HUMINT resources are absolutely necessary. We need to penetrate these cells and that's risky and very difficult to do.

Agreed. In fact, it’s almost impossible for us to do. That’s why we desperately need Arab allies.

Hi Hawkmoon; Re: "That's why it's important to have Iraq come online as a major rival to Saudi Arabia's oil production." [I.e. so that we can have oil supplies continue while we invade Saudi Arabia and fix their government, LOL.]

Well Lordy, Lordy. Less than two weeks have gone by, and already your pronouncements have again turned into shit. The Iraqis, believing that we came into their country to steal their oil, are sabotaging the oil facilities too fast for us to fix them. Who'd of thunk they'd have done something as useless as that??? The Arabs think of "scorched earth"? Nah, they never translated those books on WW2 into Arabic, LOL.
