Yep, the 'ol "wood chip" talk makes for polite conversation.

Many realized that some innocent people were being victimized, and the saying went around that "when you chop wood the chips fly." As with Lenin, it was believed that some who were innocent would have to be victimized if all of the guilty were to be apprehended.

We have some "wood chips" in Iraq and Afghanistan I guess, lets hope not too many.

What do you think of Putins view that the USA/UK Iraq adventure is a political mistake? I always had a high regard for the competence of the KGB. I have read the recent news, this bit is from April this year..

Yes, the humanitarian nature of the right's righteous warpath was amply demonstrated in the "moral equivalent of the founding fathers" episode in Afghanistan. That one turned out real well, I hear. Only a million killed, in round numbers, and it gave bin Laden a convenient recruiting base too. What a deal.
