Increases their credibility in the public eye, immeasureably.

Gingrich is writing for the conservative base that can get at State though the Prez. And they will. They agree with Newt. The public is not interested in this type of "Inside Politics." And the Dems have no say in how it is organized.

So what will Powell do? He is obviously going to stay through the election or he would have been gone by now. That means he will serve at least two years afterwards, until '06.

Given Gingrich's history, the State Dept should be delighted he is attacking them. Increases their credibility in the public eye, immeasureably.

With about half the country. The half that voted Democratic last time. I imagine it did just the opposite with the other half.
