7:59AM New York Times' Q2 earns to fall short of expectations (NYT) by Tomi Kilgore
The New York Times (NYT) warned that second-quarter earnings would fall short of expectations as the war in Iraq, SARS and a difficult job market have constrained advertising growth. The company added that costs have increased due to higher newsprint prices, war-related expenses and increased benefit and compensation expenses. The newspaper publisher expects to report earnings of 43 to 47 cents a share based on a generally accepted accounting principles, while analysts surveyed by Reuters Research are projecting earnings of 54 cents, on average. Looking ahead, the company expects 2003 earnings to see percentage growth in the "low- to mid-single digits." The stock closed Tuesday up 2 cents at $48.54.


7:50AM Electronics For Imaging ups Q2 earns forecast (EFII) by Tomi Kilgore
Electronics For Imaging (EFII) raised its second-quarter earnings forecast to 15 to 16 cents a share from 14 cents, citing strong demand for its color imbedded products and confidence that gross margins will continue to improve. Analysts surveyed by Reuters Research are expecting earnings of 15 cents, on average. The network printing services provider's stock closed Tuesday up 61 cents at $21.24.


7:47AM FindWhat.com boosts outlook for Q2 (FWHT) by Michael Baron
FindWhat.com (FWHT) is raising its expectations for the second quarter to earnings of at least 11 cents per share on revenue of more than $17 million. The Fort Myers, Fla., provider of Internet marketing services had been looking for a profit of 10 cents per share on revenue of $16 million in the period. The company attributed the higher outlook to increased volume of click-throughs, and its continued relationship with Applied Semantics. The stock closed Tuesday at $13.69, up 1.2 percent.
