When it ends then the civil law takes over for equitable distribution. <<Some religions are opening up, gradually, to things such as gay priests, etc.>> True. And I don't need to point out how well thats gone. Homosexuality in the priesthood threatens the Catholic church in a way like its never been threatened before. <<I think you will find that when this becomes law, you WILL abide by the law, or suffer the consequences. >> I wont suffer dick! As long as I own my business I will decide who I do and don't hire and I wont be questioned. If I don't want to hire someone who has a tongue stud thats my decision. Now if the feds want to thats their decision but I will do as I please when it comes to hiring in my business. <<Your fallacy is in believing that it is somehow "special treatment". It is equal treatment. Not the same thing>> Gay Marriage is not recognized in most states. So, no matter what you say, it is special treatment until laws are changed. <<Try to put yourself in the place of another. What if you were gay? If you had a lifetime partner of 30-40 years, wouldn't you want the same kind of benefits as other couples? >> Yes. However, if a gay couple is claiming to be "married" then before they get ANY benefits of marriage they should be required to go back and pay the "Marriage Penalty" for the period of time they were together before ANY benefits get handed out. <<What if it were your son or daughter, or grandson?>> Dood....I do have a heart. I also have a son and to be honest I hope he grows up to be heterosexual because I think quality of life is difficult for gay people. I'm not the gay hater you may think I am but there are logistical problems in just handing out benefits. In Wisconsin the State covers (with insurance) a non-married "partner." I have a real f*ckin problem with this. Thats my tax money and there is NO WAY of knowing if the "partner" is real or just a roommate bilking the system. So with our system it beneficial to be gay because you get free insurance AND pay no marriage penalty tax. Now if that isn't special treatment I don't know what is.
